Overview: Today more than ever technology is impacting all aspects of sporting. For players, spectators and broadcasters, the pace of technology innovation continues to disrupt the old ways at an incredible rate. So where is this innovation happening? EVERYWHERE! From tracking athletes’ movement, health, and performance, to in-venue data collection and fan experience, to eSports and media, change is happening in fast and profound ways.
Athletic achievement. Technology allows us to obtain and analyze volumes of data about athletes, from movement and location while performing to biometric sleep patterns. The result is advanced methods of evaluation for teams, scientific training regimens for athletes, and even new and engaging content for fans. Never has data been more important, or more controversial.
Smart stadiums. It was a buzzword in 2017. How smart were our stadiums and how much smarter can we make them via strategic data collection, from point-of-sale transactions to interactive digital signage and augmented reality experiences via a smartphone?
Streaming, digital media. We consume sports much differently than we did just a few years ago. There have been massive shifts in the sports content industry that will have huge ramifications on the future of live sports.
